el octavo año

“Lee’s project El Octavo Año was created in response to a difficult phase in his marriage. During this time Lee would photographs the world around him as he saw it. His ability to freeze his state of mind within the frame of a photograph allows the viewer to walk in his shoes, and feel the emotions of this distinct era. While Lee’s personal challenges were unique to him, there is an emotional familiarity that emits from these tense scenes. This distinct window into a specific moment in time amplifies how our view of our surrounding world is constantly shifting to accommodate our immediate emotions”

KATHERINE HARRIS POMERANTS, Director of Photography, TIME

<< ... being who you are is not enough; you want to be someone else. and the moment you reach there, you want to continue being more. Even if we leave the entire world in your hands, you will continue to look for the stars, because there is something in you that cannot but seek expansion, constantly and eternally. >>
