Costa da Morte (Coast of Death), 2023.
Platinum Palladium on Arches Platine & BW C-types in various sizes.
The work studies a coast in Galicia, a region scarred by the frequent bushfires that are intensifying with the effects of climate change. Rising temperatures, prolonged droughts, and changing weather patterns have turned this land into a tinderbox. Eucalyptus plantations, which were introduced for their economic value fuel the fires with their oily and flammable foliage. Shot on infrared film, the series renders the landscape in a spectrum beyond human sight.
